Hi There! My name is Ryleigh Henderson, and I am a sophomore. I was born and raised in Spartanburg county. I am a Biology and Mathematics double major here at Converse. Though I am not pursuing it as a career, music is a major part of my life. Most of my weekends, whether I am back at home, or on campus, revolve around blasting music and dancing. Fun Fact, I am always on aux. My apple music playlist ranges from rap, to R&B, to country, to grunge, to classic rock, to pop. There really isn't a genre that I won't give a chance.
When writing this blog post, I realized that I do not take pictures of myself, so here is a picture of me (In the Cheetah Sweater) and my family! :)
Currently, my go to artists are YMW Melly, Cardi B, Kevin Gates, and Lil Wayne. I know this doesn't sound as eclectic as I claimed my playlist to be, but recently, they are the only people i'm in the mood to listen to. My favorite time to listen to them is when I'm driving in my car. I role my windows down and my volume up. When listening, you can't help but get hyped up. There is no more stress, or worries, just a good time.
Here are a couple of my go to songs right now:
Now for my other side of musical tastes. Grunge and classic rock are meaningful genres to me because that's what my family listens to. A common family activity for us is to go out and listen to music (concerts, festivals downtown, live bands, etc). My favorite thing as a kid was to go listen to some of our family friends play with their bands because they would let me come up and play the tambourine or drums. Though Covid has affected our ability to go out regularly, we still try to get together when we can.
There are several songs that remind me of these activities:
CCR- Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Though I do have a couple country songs in my playlist, it is probably my least favorite genre of music. I'm not exactly sure why I tend to not like country. I would say that I have a hard time relating to the lyrics, but a lot of my favorite rap songs are definitely hard for me to relate to. The simplest reason I could say would be that I don't normally like the music style behind the lyrics. I prefer the beats in rap or the assortment of instruments in a rock band.
i found you taste in music very similar to mine as i also like rap. i also agree with lil wayne being one of my favorite rappers and so i recommend you to listen to drake. i also grew up listening to classic rock so i like that too, and not a fan of country :)
ReplyDeleteWe have very similar music taste! My playlist is also a wide range of genres from rap all the way to country. I really enjoyed the songs you listed for your #2. Grunge and classic rock is something I don't listen to all the time but when it does come on, I enjoy it a lot! I never heard of "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" before and I liked the beats in it a lot so thank you for showing me that! Now country is also not my number one choice but where I live it's pretty common to hear it playing. So, there will be times when I go through phases and all I will listen to is country music Haha.
ReplyDeleteRYLEIGH WE HAVE LIKE THE SAME TASTE IN MUSIC OH MY GOSH!! First of all, I am the same way as you when it comes to music taste. I love pretty much everything, but almost always am vibing with one genre for a time period of anywhere from a few days to a month. My life totally revolves around music like yours so I can see why we both have such similar tastes.
ReplyDeleteHey Ryleigh. I absolutely love your choices in music. I can agree that the best place to listen to music is in your car on a long drive. I appreciate your diversity of music. I would love to follow you on your Apple Music because of our similar taste in music. I havent branched out as much to classic rock, but through your song requests i have educated myself in that genre. I like the beat and tempo of those songs. Thanks so much for sharing.
